When you twist the "tee handle" to make a left turn, it seems like the machine begins to make the turn, but all of sudden the power to the right sided tires is lost (it is as if hydraulic fluid delivery to that right sided motor is suddenly shut off).

Your control levers are adjusted properly when they will sit in the neutral position without the machine rolling or any functions trying to activate. I have an old Mustang 1700 skidsteer with the v-4 Ford liquid cooled engine and variable speed drive. I had an issue where something is wrong with the output shaft that couples to the gearbox coupling. #1. I think if you ever had problems with the drive system, you'd have a hard time getting parts and/or service for it. You might want to check with a current Mustang dealer to see if parts are available for the old OMC (Mustang)machines. Not sure what your budget is but I'd look for something like a Bobcat 742/743 or maybe a bigger 843.
