I've seen three types of homemade "mini-diggers." 1. Two legs and two wheels that change locations for towing or for digging. 2. Four wheels, engine and booms rotate like an excavator. 3. Old truck frame, with old, small tractor backhoe mounted on rear, front axle may be in place with a steering tongue, or replaced with a rigid tongue for towing.A Predator backhoe is a great tool for those who need to do a lot of landscaping or digging work. It is designed for quick and easy jobs that involve fast digging, trenching, and even planting trees. The Predator backhoe is self-powered and has a hitch coupler to make it easier to tow. I've spotted a mini digger on Facebook market local to us and am thinking about whether it would be worth buying. I have several things that it could be used for, and limited width access (only 2m in places - I can just about drive my qashqai up the drive and into the plot). I bought a 2.5 tonne digger for our build and so far haven't regretted it. I was initially very rusty - I had not driven anything like it for close to 25 years - but it all comes back quickly enough. Various people I have roped in to help over the build have also used it to good effect, saving me a lot of hire charges and it's done a few jobs .
I'm looing for some advice. We're currently planning a new build and i'm looking to buy a mini digger to use throughout the build, but also to be used on jobs maintain a small holding.
