I find these nlgi 2 greases to be too thin and not tacky enough. I grease mine a whole lot less frequently than I used too and I only use Scaeffer's synthetic grease! Some are made with lithium complex thickeners, but all will protect parts from both salt and fresh water. As a bonus, most marine greases will also protect machines during extreme pressure uses.
