Old Case Diesel 1845 Skid Steer won't keep running after starting. I changed the fuel filters, and air cleaner, and added an in line electric fuel pump, with the same result. It starts quickly, runs smoothly then dies after about 10 seconds. Still having trouble with my Gehl 4500. I installed an electric fuel pump to alleviate any suspected vapor lock issues, set the regulator to 4.5 PSI. The issue that I still get it that the engine will stumble for 2 seconds and die when a slight load is applied.

Just bought a Gehl skidsteer / loader with a Ford 134 in it. Starts and runs with choke for a few then dies. Here is what I've done, followed by what I need.
Get a DMM and see what the voltages are with the ignition on before trying to start it, and then again after it dies. Chances are it will be as described, and you can get out the jumper wires with the alligator clips and get it to run, at least to a more service friendly location. If you cover the carb with your hand, you can get it to start, but it doesn't always work. If the machine just sits there, running at any RPM, it runs just fine. No misfire, no stalling. I have a Gehl 4625 SX. We replaced several solenoids that open and shut off the fuel. Now I listen to hear it snap open, if it doesn't, then turn the key to the on position and open the engine compartment and manually push the solenoid to the open position. It starts every time. I also had some wiring issues that included the emergency switch. Pull the glow plugs out of all 4 cylinders. Then use a wrench, socket or what ever and turn it over clockwise from the back end, side with the timing belt. If it turns over easy then try it with the starter. Try that and see what happens. EPU has the Deutz manual 5 or 6 pages on the proper way to set the timing.
