Be sure to get your utilities marked. It's a huge job, though. I've seen neighbors kill their existing lawn. Then level/top-dress with soil and then replant with seed. I've never done it, but seems like less work/expense.You could rent a tractor with a front-end loader, a wheeled loader, a skid-steer with a loader ("bobcat"), backhoe with a front-end loader.
