Today’s project is building a cab enclosure for the skid loader. I decided to use plexiglass for this project and it didn’t turn out as expected. But I learn. Have an 01 JD 240. It has the glass across the back already. We figured we could just attach some plexiglass panels to the sides.. but how would you go about enclosing the front of the cab? they make a bolt on door or anything? There are some self enclosed vinyl kits. For Bobcat, you can make plexiglass windows and build a door from scratch but you will spend 1k easily. If you figure in your time, effort, and materials to do your own cab, you are better off getting a cab, in my opinion. If you want to save a few bucks, find one with the AC not working and fix the heat.
We have a older New Holland LS180 skid steer. We're considering putting a snow plow on it as we no longer have the tractor that had a mounted blade anymore.. But it is a basic cage cab.. And it's awfully cold and windy to be sitting out in the open for hours.. I have an enclosed cab with heat. The factory option is glass panels with aluminum frames that attach to the inside of the cab. I'm in Minnesota and having the sides enclosed is nice, however I rarely put the door on mine. I plowed with an open cab skid my first year. I bought two pairs of everything, boots, gloves, hats, etc. I set one pair in the truck and wore the other pair until they were cold or wet then I swapped them out for the others.
